How to Deactivate a Facebook Account

Deactivating your Facebook account temporarily hides your profile, posts, and content while keeping your data intact for future reactivation. Follow these steps to deactivate your account:

On Desktop:

  1. Log in to Your Facebook Account:
    Open www.facebook.com and sign in with your credentials.
  2. Access Settings & Privacy:
    Click your profile picture in the top-right corner, then select Settings & Privacy > Settings.
  3. Go to Account Settings:
    In the left panel, select Your Facebook Information.
  4. Select Deactivation and Deletion:
    Click Deactivation and Deletion, then choose Deactivate Account.
  5. Follow the On-Screen Instructions:
    Click Continue to Account Deactivation and follow the prompts to confirm.

On Mobile (Facebook App):

  1. Open the Facebook App:
    Launch the Facebook app and log in.
  2. Go to Settings:
    Tap the Menu (three horizontal lines) icon and select Settings & Privacy > Settings.
  3. Navigate to Your Information:
    Scroll down and select Access and Control.
  4. Select Deactivation and Deletion:
    Choose Deactivate Account and follow the instructions to confirm.

Deactivating your Facebook account allows you to take a break from the platform without permanently deleting your data.
