“Udaan Yatri Cafe: A Unique and Impactful Initiative for Affordable Dining”

The Udaan Yatri Cafe initiative is being launched by the Indian government to combat the high cost of food and beverages at airports.
Kolkata’s Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport is the site of the first pilot project involving these cafes. Should the plan prove successful, it will
be extended to other airports operated by the Airports Authority of India (AAI).

Affordable Refreshments for Air Travelers

The Udaan Yatri Cafe’s mission is to provide air travelers with affordable beverages such as water bottles, tea, coffee, and snacks. This move comes after
several MPs, including Raghav Chadha, raised concerns about the high prices of airport dining options during parliamentary meetings.

Support for the Common Man

According to MP Raghav Chadha, “The government has finally shown support for a common man through this initiative. I hope this scheme, which starts at Kolkata
Airport, will be extended to all airports. Aircraft passengers can now avoid paying ₹100-250 for basic items like water or tea due to this change.”

Future Expansion

If the pilot project at Kolkata Airport is successful, Udaan Yatri Cafes will be introduced at other airports under the AAI-run Ministry of Civil Aviation, according to a statement.
